Framed: £3,800. SOLD. This painting is part of Chris Gollon's 'Early Thoughts' series of works. Before painting this image, as part of his 'Early Thoughts' work before his Fellowship starting in 2009, Chris Gollon had been researching various civilizations and the differing gods in each. He was interested by the fact that some gods did not make the transition to new civilizations or eras, and that some, such as Apollo, get left behind.

In Gollon's painting, Apollo has become a faceless, outmoded god who no-one today can possibly believe in; but who nevertheless retains an imposing presence, an energy and a physical power.
