This painting is partially inspired by a trip to some wealthy towns in New Jersey, USA. Ageing is a tragedy for all of us, but Chris Gollon was ill-prepared for a lot of the equally tragic-looking, over-done cosmetic surgery opted for by some of the women in those parts.
