Media: mixed media on canvas
Size: 30" x 40"
£3,500. This painting takes its title from Bob Dylan's great ballad Desolation Row and links it to the painting 'Einstein & the Jealous Monk'. the latter being partially inspired by specific lyrics from the ballad.
In this empty landscape the spectator is not allowed the reflection he/she is owed, but that visible from someone else's viewpoint. Perhaps it also points to the references to Einstein's Theory of Relativity, hinted at in 'Einstein & the Jealous Monk' as seen below. This work also has an electric yellow sky, and an unrelenting but strange sun, perhaps almost reminiscent of a Samuel Beckett stage set. Although, Gollon's painting can also be enjoyed simply, as a sparse Arizona-style landscape of vast possibilities.
