Category: Paintings
Artist: Chris Gollon
Subject: Larger Works
Year of Work: 2006
Media: acrylic on canvas
Size: 48" x 15"
Price: £4,000 (Reserved). This painting is the title painting of the recent series of paintings entitled 'House of Sleep', some of which were shown at Thompson's Gallery, London W1, in 2006. The 'House of Sleep' was where the Greek god of sleep Hypnoss lived, with his brother Thanatos, god of Death, and mother Nix, god of night. Hypnoss's son, Morpheus, god of dreams, (hence morphia etc) also dwelled there, and the latter is depicted here. Chris Gollon has chosen to approach depicting the House of Sleep in this series as a sort of rock n' roll place. Other works in the series include 'Morning' and 'It's Not Dark Yet, A Homage to Otto Dix & Bob Dylan' and 'House of Sleep Revisited' .
This painting is available from IAP Fine Art, London.
