Year of Work: 2005

In June 2005, Chris Gollon chose to work again with master printmaker Ian Wilkinson at the Cambridgeshire-based Limberhurst Press print studio. Ian has worked with many leading contemporary artists including Paula Rego, John Bellany, Eduardo Paolozzi, Elizabeth Frink and Anthony Gormley. In a very creative, technical collaboration with Ian Wilkinson, and using twenty silk-screens, Chris Gollon produced this successful edition of silk-screen fine art prints.

Published by IAP Fine Art, London, and entitled ‘Mater Dolorosa’, this edition of 100 screenprints, each signed and numbered by the artist, is an official study for Chris Gollon’s commission for 14 Stations of the Cross for the Church of England.

Chris Gollon has made this richly-coloured image of the ‘Mater Dolorosa’ to include an extraordinary, iconic gold sky. Derived from an original painting, and reworked in sik-screen form, it is a beautiful image that only exists in silk-screen form, with screens hand-painted by the artist.

Available from IAP Fine Art, London, Chris Gollon's primary gallery. For further information, please contact us. £100 from the sale of each silk-screen is donated to St John on Bethnal Green to help toward the cost of lighting and security for the Stations
