Price: £6,000. SOLD. This painting was part of the solo exhibition 'House of Sleep' at Thompson's Gallery, London W1 (T: 020 7935 3595) in November 2006. It sold to a private collector in advance of the exhibition. Thompson's Gallery hold a small selection works by Chris Gollon, please see Exhibitions page. The still life within this work led onto a whole series of innovative still life by the artist.
Chris Gollon has used the same Vermeer-like window and interior infused with light as he did in the painting 'Morning', and again achieves the effect of silence and stillness. A strange private view indeed, but given the nature of the House of Sleep, perhaps not unexpected. This painting seems connected also to 'Still Life With Champagne'.
